Glendale Heroes Regional Park Dog Park is a large, grass-covered dog park tucked toward the back of Glendale Heroes Regional Park. Separate areas give large and small dogs their own space, with long, open runs that leave plenty of room to spread out.
Natural grass covers most of the play areas, with seating placed throughout the park and a few shaded picnic tables near the entrances. Two dog water fountains are available nearby, though both sit outside the gated runs.
The amount of usable space.
Heroes is one of the larger dog parks we’ve explored in the West Valley. The runs are long, open, and almost entirely grass, making it easier for dogs and owners to create some distance even when the park is busy.
Water requires leaving the gated dog run. Two dog water fountains are positioned near the entrances, but neither is inside the fenced play area.
Shade is limited. The park has several trees, but many are still young and provide little usable shade. Most seating remains exposed, while a few picnic tables offer more dependable coverage.

The dog park sits toward the back of the larger regional park. Once you get farther into Heroes Regional Park, directional signs point toward the dog park, but it may not be obvious immediately when entering the property.

Heroes was busy when we arrived, with roughly 13 dogs in the park, but the size of the run kept it from feeling crowded. Ellie found enough room to stay mostly to herself while dogs ran and played around her, making this more of an exposure day than a social one for her.
What stood out most was the sense of community. Several owners appeared to be regulars, and we heard people greeting dogs by name as they passed. There were a few groups gathered around the park, while other dogs wandered between them.
The biggest surprise was how clean the park looked for how active it was. We covered a good portion of the run and did not spot any abandoned pet waste. The grass was also exceptionally thick and healthy, enough that Ellie repeatedly tried to squat to pee, felt the grass touch her, and immediately stood back up. 😂
We also got a good example of responsible dog ownership during the visit. One owner chose to leash his dog and leave when the dog stopped listening rather than waiting for the situation to become a problem.
First impression: Busy, social, spacious, and very well kept.
